Komodo boat trip cost per person: the full budget for a group
Updated 12 October 2026
On a 3D2N charter the boat share is IDR 5,220,000 (≈ USD 320) a head at 16 guests and IDR 3,840,000 (≈ USD 236) at 25. The fare leaves out park tickets, the ranger fee, a guide, photo and video documentation, tips, flights and hotel nights. Add each line to the boat share before you quote your group a total.
The fare per head, from the printed bands
A charter is priced for the boat, not for the bed. The rate card prints a whole-boat price for 1 to 5, 6 to 10, 11 to 15 and 16 to 20 guests, then one amount for each guest above 20, up to 25. We divide that price by your head count and round to the nearest ten thousand rupiah. The invoice carries the whole-boat price, so the per-head figure is a planning number and the sum on the invoice is the sum you pay.
Read the table for your own count. Inside a band the price per head is lowest at the top of each band, so a group of 20 gets the best use of the 16-to-20 band, and a group of 16 gets the worst. For 3D2N, 16 guests pay IDR 5,220,000 (≈ USD 320) each and 20 guests pay IDR 4,180,000 (≈ USD 256).
The fare includes the boat, its crew, meals as per programme, free-flow water, tea and coffee, mask and snorkel without fins, kayak, paddle board, Starlink Wi-Fi, karaoke and sound system, hotel and airport pickup both ways, and an ikat cloth for every guest. It includes 11% VAT. The lines below are not inside it.

The lines that sit outside the fare
Each line below is charged in a different unit. That is the part organisers get wrong, so keep the unit next to the line in your sheet.
- Park entry: per person, per day. Paid separately, online, in each visitor's name.
- Ranger and pier charges: the park sets the ranger fee and the harbour sets the pier charge, and both come on top of entry. Both can change, and the park-fees page explains how they are charged.
- Local guide: on a charter, on request and quoted separately. The open-trip fare includes one.
- Photo and video documentation: on a charter, on request and quoted separately. The open-trip fare includes it.
- Tips for the crew: your group decides. Set a per-head figure and collect it with the rest.
- Fins: not supplied. Bring your own pair.
- Flights and hotel nights: personal. We advise on flights and book rooms for groups.
- Vehicle upgrade: quoted separately. A Toyota HiAce carries up to 12 people, and a coach comes on request.

Park tickets, counted properly
Entry is charged per person per day. A foreign guest pays IDR 250,000 a day. An Indonesian guest pays IDR 50,000 on a weekday and IDR 75,000 at a weekend or on a public holiday. Snorkelling is covered by the entry ticket.
A 3D2N trip spans 3 calendar days, so read the 3-day rows as your planning figure. The table prints groups of 2, 4 and 10. For 16 or 25 guests, take the 10-guest row and add the rest, or multiply the daily fee by head count and days yourself.
Split your list into foreign and Indonesian guests before you count, and mark any Indonesian guest whose day falls on a weekend. Ranger and pier charges are extra and can change, so they sit on their own line and never inside a fare.
Tickets are bought online in each visitor's name. That is why the passport list matters twice: once for the boarding pass and once for the ticket.
| Guests | Days | International | Indonesian | Indonesian · weekends & holidays |

Worked example: 16 guests on a 3D2N charter
Take 16 foreign guests on the 3D2N private route, with the whole boat in the 16-to-20 band. Each line carries its unit.
- Boat share: IDR 83,500,000 (≈ USD 5,123) for the boat, divided by 16: IDR 5,220,000 (≈ USD 320) per head.
- Park entry: IDR 250,000 per head per day, for 3 days.
- Ranger and pier: extra, set by the park and the harbour.
- Guide and documentation: two separate quotes if you want them, each divided by 16.
- Vehicles: 16 guests need two HiAce vehicles, or one coach if you ask for it. Divide the quote by 16.
- Tips: the figure your group sets, per head.
- Personal: flights, the hotel night before, insurance, fins, cash.
The total per head is the boat share, plus 3 daily tickets, plus the ranger and pier charges, plus each quoted line divided by 16, plus tips, plus the personal lines. No single total is printed here, because the quoted lines depend on what your group asks for. Send us your route and head count and we quote them.
Worked example: 25 guests on a 3D2N charter
Now the full licence: 25 guests, same route, same foreign passports.
- Boat share: the 16-to-20 band price of IDR 83,500,000 (≈ USD 5,123) plus five guests at IDR 2,500,000 (≈ USD 153), divided by 25: IDR 3,840,000 (≈ USD 236) per head.
- Park entry: IDR 250,000 per head per day, for 3 days. This line does not shrink with group size.
- Ranger and pier: extra, as above.
- Guide and documentation: separate quotes, divided by 25.
- Vehicles: three HiAce vehicles, or a coach. Divide the quote by 25.
- Tips: per head, set by the group.
Going from 16 to 25 guests, the boat share falls from IDR 5,220,000 (≈ USD 320) to IDR 3,840,000 (≈ USD 236) a head, while the ticket line stays where it is. The quoted lines are priced for the whole group, so if your count sits between 16 and 25, ask for them at both ends, side by side.
Collecting the money from your group
Work backwards from our two dates: the 50% deposit that holds the sailing, and the balance 30 days before departure. Ask your group for two instalments that land about 10 days ahead of ours, so that a late payer never leaves you short.
- First instalment: each guest's share of the boat. Ask for it when the guest says yes.
- Second instalment: the rest of the boat share, the park tickets and the quoted lines, once the quote is final.
- Tips and personal lines: in cash, or on a third small instalment if you prefer to hand over one envelope at the end.
Tell the group what a cancellation costs. A refund is 50% at 60 days or more, 25% from 59 days down to 30, and nothing inside 30, so we recommend travel insurance for every guest. Paying by PayPal carries a 7.2% fee, and the card link shows its own fee on the invoice. Weigh both against your bank's charges when you pick a method.
Where the figure moves, and where it stops moving
Three levers change the cost per head, and one limit is worth stating.
- Fill the band. On 3D2N, 10 guests pay IDR 6,850,000 (≈ USD 420) each, 11 pay IDR 6,910,000 (≈ USD 424) and 12 pay IDR 6,330,000 (≈ USD 388). The 11th guest moves the boat into the next band, so read the three figures side by side before you settle the list.
- Shorten the route. A 2D1N charter at 20 guests works out at IDR 3,740,000 (≈ USD 229) each and a full day at IDR 2,780,000 (≈ USD 171).
- Mind the Indonesian weekend rate. A weekday ticket for an Indonesian guest is IDR 50,000. At a weekend it is IDR 75,000.
Now the limit. At 15 and 16 guests a 3D2N charter works out at about the same per head as the cheapest open-trip bed, and from 17 guests upward the whole boat is cheaper per head. But the open-trip fare includes a guide and documentation, and on a charter they are extra, so the crossover moves up once you add them. Choose the open trip instead if your group is under 15 and nobody needs the boat to themselves.
Send your head count and your route, and we reply with a quote that shows every line in this guide.
FAQ
What will each guest really pay, beyond the boat share?
The boat share is only the first line. On a 3D2N charter at 16 guests it is IDR 5,220,000 (≈ USD 320) a head, and park tickets, ranger and pier charges, a guide, documentation, tips, flights and hotel nights come on top. The lines are listed with their units above, and your quote prices the shared ones.
Are crew tips included in a charter fare?
No. Tips are never in the fare, on the charter or the open trip. Your group decides a per-head figure, you collect it with the other payments, and you hand it over at the end of the trip. We quote nothing for tips, so the amount stays yours.
Do I pay the park entry to you or to the park?
Neither on your invoice. Tickets are paid separately, online, in each visitor's name, and they are not part of our fare. A foreign guest pays IDR 250,000 a day, and an Indonesian guest pays IDR 50,000 on a weekday. Ranger and pier charges are extra as well.
Can each guest pay their own share directly?
No. One invoice goes to the organiser, so you collect from the group and pay us once. The group guide shows how to split it inside the group. We take 50% as the deposit and the rest 30 days before departure, so set your group's dates earlier.
How much cash should a group bring on board?
Bring cash for tips and small purchases. ATMs stand along the road near the harbour and at airport arrivals, and none stands in the park or on the islands, so withdraw before boarding. The trip itself is paid by invoice before sailing.
