Full-day Komodo boat charter from Labuan Bajo
Updated 12 October 2026
A full-day private charter takes the whole boat, up to 25 guests, on a near-islands loop and returns before sunset. The loop shown here is our planning sample: Kelor, Manjarite and Kanawa. The stop list is fixed in the quote. For 16 guests the day costs IDR 3,470,000 (≈ USD 213) each, before park tickets, guide and photographs.
A printed price with no printed stops
The rate card gives a price for the full day and no list of stops, so the table below is a sample, not a printed route. The sample is the near-islands loop: a hill walk and swim at Kelor, snorkelling at Manjarite, reef and beach at Kanawa, buffet lunch in between, and the pier in Labuan Bajo reached before sunset.
A sample turns into a plan in the quote. The stop list, the order we intend and the pickup hour are fixed there, and the crew sails that version. Whatever the quote leaves open, the captain decides on the day from sea, wind and tide. The table marks the one swap we have planned for: Manjarite and Kanawa can change places.
Pickup is at the hour agreed in your charter confirmation, from a hotel or the airport. No standard hour exists because no standard group does. A team that wants its first swim before the midday sun asks for an early start, and a family with small children asks for a later one. Carry a passport or ID.
Day 1
| What happens | Sailing from previous stop | Have ready | |
|---|---|---|---|
| · | Pickup from your Labuan Bajo hotel or the airport, at the hour agreed in your charter confirmation | — | passport or ID |
| · | Boarding and safety briefing | — | |
| · | Kelor hill walk and swim | 50–70 min | shoes with grip, water |
| · | Lunch, buffet from the restaurant island | — | |
| · | Snorkelling at Manjarite | 30–60 min | mask and snorkel (no fins supplied) |
| · | Kanawa reef and beach | — | reef-safe sunscreen |
| · | Back in Labuan Bajo before sunset, transfer to your hotel | 60–90 min |
Tide and wind decide the order of these stops: Manjarite ⇄ Kanawa.
Planning times, not a timetable. Only the pickup has a set hour.
Minutes between the islands
From the pier to Kelor is 50 to 70 minutes of sailing, and Kelor to Manjarite adds 30 to 60. The legs table holds the planning ranges we have for pairs of stops on this loop, and its last column says how firm each figure is. Read every row as a range, never as a timetable.
The way back from Kanawa takes 60 to 90 minutes, so the last swim ends with that time in hand.
Guests board from a wooden platform on the starboard side, midship, with rails on it and a ladder down to the water.
| From | To | Minutes | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Labuan Bajo | Kelor | 50–70 | Verified |
| Kelor | Manjarite | 30–60 | Operating range |

What the day costs for the head count you have
For 16 guests the whole boat comes to IDR 55,500,000 (≈ USD 3,405), which is IDR 3,470,000 (≈ USD 213) each. At 20 guests the same boat price is IDR 2,780,000 (≈ USD 171) each. At 25 guests, with the extra amount for each guest above 20, it is IDR 2,520,000 (≈ USD 155) each.
Each guest from the 21st to the 25th adds IDR 1,500,000 (≈ USD 92) to the boat price. Smaller groups sit in lower bands: 11 to 15 guests pay IDR 53,000,000 (≈ USD 3,252) for the boat, and 6 to 10 pay IDR 49,000,000 (≈ USD 3,006). The table prints every band, and beneath the current list it prints the 2027 list for days from 1 January 2027.
Choose a smaller boat if you are 5 people or fewer. The whole boat for 1 to 5 guests is IDR 46,750,000 (≈ USD 2,868), which is IDR 9,350,000 (≈ USD 574) each at 5 and IDR 23,380,000 (≈ USD 1,434) each at 2, because the price is per boat and a small party pays for empty berths.
Three lines sit outside the boat price: park tickets, a local guide and the photo and video set. The guide and the set are quoted as separate lines on request, and the fare changes only by a line you have accepted.
| Guests | per boat | per person |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | IDR 46,750,000 (≈ USD 2,868) | IDR 9,350,000 |

| 11–15 | IDR 53,000,000 (≈ USD 3,252) | IDR 3,530,000 |
| 16–20 | IDR 55,500,000 (≈ USD 3,405) | IDR 2,780,000 |
| Extra guest · max guests 25 | IDR 1,500,000 (≈ USD 92) |
| Guests | per boat | per person |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | IDR 48,500,000 (≈ USD 2,975) | IDR 9,700,000 |

What a full boat changes in one day
With 20 guests aboard, four things take longer than the sample table suggests.
- Landings. The boat carries one white fibreglass tender with an outboard. Twenty guests need several trips of it to reach a beach, so give each landing extra time.
- Lunch. The restaurant has a buffet island in the middle and counter seats for about 20. A group of 25 eats in two sittings, or takes its plates up to the sun deck, which has no shade at midday.
- Water toys. An inflatable two-seat kayak and a stand-up paddle board are on board, and guests share them in turns.
- The Kelor walk. It is a short steep hill, 15 to 30 minutes on a dry path. Sturdy shoes matter more than fitness, and the slowest walker sets the pace.
Send the age of the oldest and of the youngest guest with the head count, because the stop list is written around them.
The boat price, the extras and the places this loop skips
Read the two lists below with one rule in mind. The boat, the crew and the day's meals are in. Whatever belongs to the park or to one person is out. Park tickets are never in the fare: each visitor buys one online, in their own name. The park-fees page lists the foreign, domestic and weekend rates, and the ranger fee is extra.
This loop has no Padar, no Komodo dragons, no Pink Beach and no Manta Point. If the group came for those, book the 2D1N route, which reaches all four. If it came for a day out together with a swim, a hill walk and a long lunch, the full day is the right length.
Send the date, the head count and the name of your hotel. The quote that comes back carries the stop list, the pickup hour and every line that is not in the fare.

FAQ
Does the full-day charter reach the dragons or Padar?
No. The sample loop is Kelor, Manjarite and Kanawa, islands close to Labuan Bajo, and Kelor is a 50 to 70 minute sail from the pier. Dragons, Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point start with the 2D1N charter, whose second day covers all four.
What time do we leave, and when are we back?
Pickup is at the hour agreed in your charter confirmation. The boat returns to Labuan Bajo before sunset, and the transfer to your hotel follows. Near Komodo the sun sets at about 17:49 in May and about 18:27 in January, so the return hour moves with the month.
Can 25 people book the full day?
Yes. The licence is 25 guests, and the printed boat price covers up to 20. Each guest from the 21st to the 25th adds IDR 1,500,000 (≈ USD 92). Lunch for 25 runs in two sittings, since about 20 fit at the restaurant counters, or it goes up to the sun deck.
Are the guide and the photographs part of the day price?
No. On a private charter the fare carries neither the local guide nor the photo and video set, and nothing on the day is guided unless you buy the guide line. Both lines are quoted before you pay. Park tickets are separate too: IDR 250,000 for a foreign visitor per person per day.
What happens to the stop list if the harbour or the park closes?
The captain re-orders the day on the water, as the stop list allows. Should the harbour or park authority order the boat to stay in port, we supply a phinisi of equal or higher class for the same date at no extra cost, or refund in full within 14 days.
