Updated 12 October 2026

The open trip sails every Monday and Friday, and the calendar shows only dates that can still be booked. Monday and Friday, and what that does to a working week

A Monday start ends on Wednesday morning. A Friday start ends on Sunday morning. That one fact settles half the group planning: a team that lands the day before needs two working days of leave for a Friday sailing (Thursday to fly in, Friday aboard, home on Sunday) and three for a Monday sailing (Monday to Wednesday aboard, after flying in on Sunday). For staff outings look at the Friday dates first. For a family on school leave, or friends who are free midweek, the Monday dates carry no penalty.

The calendar below shows each sailing as the three days it occupies, month by month, for 2026 and for 2027, and the 2027 dates keep the same Monday and Friday pattern.

A sailing is a place on a shared boat, not the whole boat. If your party fills the cabins and wants the dates to itself, read the last section of this page before you pick a day.

Monday and Friday sailings still open. A missing date has sailed or filled. Charters and docking hold the rest.

Missing dates, and flags that are not guarantees

Some Mondays and Fridays are missing from the calendar. A date drops out once it has sailed or filled, or when the boat is on a private charter or in dock, so nobody plans a flight around a sailing that cannot be booked.

Each date that remains carries one of two labels. Few cabins left is the status on 11 October 2026, when the boat's calendar sheet showed only a few cabins open. Ask about this date means cabins were open on that day, and open does not mean held for you: a cabin is held only after the deposit.

Flags age, so treat each one as a question to put to us and not as an answer. If your date shows Few cabins left, ask which cabin kinds remain before you buy a flight, and ask whether a second date a week later would suit the group.

Two-day guests and three-day guests on one sailing

Two lengths share each sailing. Three-day guests ride the full 3D2N route and reach the pier between 10:00 and 11:00 on the morning of day three. Two-day guests sail the first two days of that same route, Taka Makassar on day 2 included, and are back at the pier between 19:00 and 20:30 that evening. They miss the Kanawa or Seture stop on day three.

The 3D2N fare starts at IDR 5,150,000 (≈ USD 316) and the 2D1N fare at IDR 4,400,000 (≈ USD 270), per person, two sharing. On a Friday sailing, 2D1N means a Saturday evening return and a free Sunday, which suits a weekend away from work. A 3D2N guest on the same boat is back on Sunday morning.

Day two is the long day for everybody. Padar is the first stop of the day, and the rest runs through Komodo village or Rinca, Pink Beach, Manta Point and Taka Makassar. The park quota decides which of each pair you get.

The pickup window, flights and the day before

Hotel and airport pickup in Labuan Bajo costs nothing and falls between 10:30 and 11:55 on day one. The exact time reaches you the day before. That makes day one an afternoon on the water and not a full day, and it is the reason to arrive a day early rather than on the morning flight. At the boat, guests board from a wooden platform with a ladder on the starboard side, midship.

For the flight home, count from the dock: the boat arrives between 10:00 and 11:00 on the last morning of a three-day sailing, and the drive and check-in take the early afternoon, so book a departure after 14:00. A two-day guest is back in the evening of day two and should not fly that night.

If the group needs hotel rooms for the night before or after, say so when you send the dates.

Which fare list applies to which dates

Sailings to the end of 2026 use the 2026 fares. Sailings from 1 January to 31 July 2027 use the 2027 fares, and every 2027 open-trip fare is higher than its 2026 twin, in each cabin class and in both lengths. August to December 2027 has no printed card yet, so those dates follow the 2027 fares until a new card appears.

Both fare tables, with the extra-bed rates, sit on the cabins page. The date you choose decides which table prices your sailing, so settle the date first and read the fare second.

The 2027 calendar already holds bookings from other parties, which makes a Friday in July or August worth asking about early.

When a charter date is the better pick

Pick a private charter if your party is 15 or more and everyone wants the same dates. At 15 and 16 guests the whole boat costs about what an open-trip bed costs per head, and from 17 guests it costs less, with the dates, the route and the roof to yourselves. A group of 16 on 3D2N pays IDR 5,220,000 (≈ USD 320) each. The charter leaves out the guide and the photo set, which the open trip includes, so add them to the charter side before you compare.

Stay with the open trip if you are fewer than 15, happy to share cabins two to a room, and glad to have the guide and the photo and video set in the fare. You share the restaurant, the roof and the Padar ridge with other parties.

Next step: send the date from the calendar, the cabin kind you want and how many guests sleep in each cabin.

FAQ

Does a Friday departure end on a Sunday?

Yes. A three-day guest on a Friday sailing reaches the pier between 10:00 and 11:00 on Sunday. A two-day guest on the same sailing is back between 19:00 and 20:30 on Saturday evening. Monday sailings run the same way and end on Wednesday morning or Tuesday evening.

What time are we collected on the first day of the open trip?

The pickup window is 10:30 to 11:55, and the exact time for your hotel is sent the day before. Collection from a hotel or the airport costs nothing. Arrive in Labuan Bajo the day before, since day one is an afternoon on the water and a late flight puts the pickup at risk.

When should we book flights home after the open trip?

After a three-day sailing, the boat docks between 10:00 and 11:00, so the flight home leaves after 14:00. A two-day guest is back between 19:00 and 20:30 on the evening of day two and should fly the next day. We advise on flights and do not sell tickets.

Why is a Monday or a Friday missing from the calendar?

Because it can no longer be booked: the sailing has gone, every cabin is taken, or the boat is on a private charter or in dock that day. It is not an error. Ask us about a date you do not see, and we tell you which of the three applies.

Is 2027 open for booking yet?

Yes. Open-trip dates for 2027 are on the calendar, every Monday and Friday, and the 2027 fares cover sailings from 1 January to 31 July 2027. A charter in that window is priced from the 2027 rate card. Later 2027 dates follow that card until a new one is printed, and the quote names the fare before any deposit. A fare that moves before your balance date is announced to you first, with the option to cancel at no charge.
