Komodo group trip planning guides
Updated 12 October 2026
Four guides for the person who has to put a group on this boat: organising 20 or more guests, allocating the 7 cabins, working out the full cost per head, and running a company event. A 3D2N charter at 25 guests works out at IDR 3,840,000 (≈ USD 236) a head before park tickets.
Which guide answers which question
Pick by the job in front of you, not by the order of the grid.
- 20 or more names and no plan yet: the group guide covers the head count, the dates we set, the names and passports, and the money.
- The names are in and the arguments about beds have started: the cabin guide gives a method and worked allocations for 12, 18 and 25 guests.
- Someone asks what the trip really costs: the budget guide adds every line outside the fare to the boat share.
- Head office wants an event: the event guide sets out what the restaurant, the turf deck and the sound system can carry, and what they cannot.
Each guide closes with a checklist you can paste into your own notes.
How to organise a Komodo boat trip for 20 or more peopleHow to organise 20 to 25 guests on one boat: head count, deposit, names and passports, and the money. Park tickets are not in the fare.
Cabin allocation on a Komodo phinisi: who sleeps whereWho sleeps where on a 7-cabin phinisi: a five-pass method and worked rooming lists for 12, 18 and 25 guests. Extra beds start at guest 22.
Komodo boat trip cost per person: the full budget for a groupThe full cost per head of a group trip on this boat: fare, park tickets, ranger, guide, tips and flights. Worked for 16 and 25 guests on 3D2N.
Company event on a Komodo phinisi: what the boat can hostWhat a company event can and cannot do on this boat: 4 spaces, sample 2-day and 3-day programmes, and an invoice to one organiser. No meeting room.
Two limits behind all four
Every figure in these guides is filled from the printed rate cards when the page is built, so a guide cannot drift away from the charter page. Two limits hold for all of them. The boat has 21 fixed berths and a licence for 25, so guests 22 to 25 sleep on extra beds. And park tickets, the ranger fee, a guide and photo or video documentation never sit inside a charter fare.
Where a worked example needs a total that no printed figure gives, the guide shows the lines and leaves the addition to whoever holds your quote.
When you are ready, send your head count and two dates on WhatsApp.
FAQ
Which planning guide should I read first?
Read the group guide if you have 20 or more people, because it sets out what must be fixed before the deposit. Read the cabin guide first if the head count is settled and the argument is about beds. A 3D2N charter at 20 guests costs IDR 4,180,000 (≈ USD 256) each, so the budget guide matters before you invite anyone.
Can I copy the checklists into my own document?
Yes. The checklists are written to be pasted into a notes app or a shared sheet. The dates that belong to us are few: the 50% deposit, the balance 30 days before departure, and names with ID details no later than 7 days before sailing. Set your own dates ahead of those.
Do the guides cover the open trip as well as the private charter?
The cabin guide covers both, because the same 7 cabins sit behind each. The group, budget and event guides are written for a private charter, where you hold the whole boat. The open trip departs every Monday & Friday, and its fares sit in the open-trip tables on the cabins page.
What if a price in a guide differs from my quote?
Your quote wins. The guides fill their figures from the same data as the charter page, read on 11 October 2026, so a gap points to a rate that changed or a line the guide cannot see, such as a vehicle upgrade. Tell us about the gap and we correct the page.
